Rivalry Brings Intensity To The Field
June 9, 2017 - Article by Lions Intern, Lauren Lemp
The expected intensity of the game did not disappoint Wednesday night as the Lions faced STLFC U23. From the start both teams came out strong. Lions’ defense remained solid throughout the first half along with multiple good saves from keeper, Casey Clark. 26 minutes in the Lions got on the board. A free kick from just outside the corner set up a header goal from Sam Lee. With the defense on their game the score remained 1-0 at the end of the first.
The second half started off as high pressured as the first. Defense was not budging and the offense was determined to put another one in the net. Runs from forward Vadim Cojocov paid off as he brought the score to 2-0 in the 76th minute giving the team a great victory.
An important win from the Lions as this is the first of 3 games they will face against STLFC U23 this season. Lions play again in hopes to continue the momentum on Saturday June 10 at 5:00pm CST against Chicago FC United.
