TAMPA, Fla. – The PDL unveiled a new brand on Thursday as part of a major presentation to the league’s ownership group at the USL Winter Summit in Clearwater Beach, Fla. As part of the PDL’s player-focused, Path to Pro model, the league’s new logo follows the successful rebrand by the USL earlier this year.
“The PDL has made great strides as a league, both in caliber of play and now more significantly as a brand,” PDL Director Todd Eason said. “With today’s unveiling, we are proud to introduce a PDL shield that truly exemplifies the players’ Path to Pro and the role this league has in their careers.”
The PDL shield features three predominant colors – navy blue, red and white – with a swoosh of gray running horizontally with a white line. The bottom of the shield is anchored with a star.
Additional rebranding elements are forthcoming from the PDL heading into 2016, which will be the league’s 22nd season as the top amateur development league in the United States and Canada.
The PDL featured 63 teams during the 2015 season as K-W United FC was crowned the champion. The league began in 1995 as the United States Interregional Soccer League, with current USL club the Richmond Kickers earning the first crown that year.
